HOW TO GET TO PIRACANGA ECOVILLAGE
Piracanga Ecovillage is located in Bahia, on Maraú Peninsula, 250 km from Salvador.
In order to get here, the trip is usually divided into 2 stages: the first is to get to Itacaré (the closest city), the second is to travel along bumpy dirt roads to the ecovillage.

VIA ILHÉUS
(100 km – 2h30)
The closest airport is Jorge Amado (IOS), in Ilhéus. Upon disembarking, take a bus to Itacaré or a car transfer/taxi to the ecovillage. We will help you via whatsapp to schedule the transfer/taxi and recommend a trusted one.
VIA SALVADOR
(250 km - 6 hours)
When disembarking at Salvador International Airport (SSA), go to the ferryboat terminal (São Joaquim). There are ferryboats leaving every hour, they cross Baía de Todos os Santos. The journey to Bom Despacho, located on the island of Itaparica, takes one hour. The ferryboat arrival stop is besides the bus station, where there are buses departing to Itacaré.

🚌 BY bus
Several bus companies operate providing Itacaré as a destinations departing from Brazil's main cities. If your city does not have a direct line, see options for Ilhéus. Schedules and values available on the bus companies' websites.

🚕 TRANSFER
Car transfers can be requested from Ilhéus or from Itacaré. To schedule a transfer, we will help you through the Whatsapp group, for confirmed retreat participants, and we will put you in contact with trusted taxi drivers. We will also assist in the formation of groups for transfers in which it will be possible to divide the cost, according to dates, times and place of departure.
Departing from Itacaré, it may be necessary to cross the Rio de Contas by boat. On the main edge of the city there are boatmen who serve every day, especially in the mornings and afternoons. The boat trip from Itacaré to Pontal beach takes maximum 5 minutes. From there, the transfer to Piracanga takes around 30 minutes. We will assist you with the entire scheduling process.
If the transfer service goes by the road (without crossing the river), it's not necessary to cross the Rio de Contas. The journey takes about an hour to Ecovila Piracanga.
🚗 PERSONAL VEHICLE
The access way to Piracanga Ecovillage has poor infrastructure. It's a bumpy dirt road, in a rural area. You can drive your own vehicle. Make sure the vehicle is equipped to do this trip. Also, confirm the weather condition. There may be excessive rain and flooding on the road. For those who want to arrive driving directly to the ecovillage, the route can be informed by us within the Whatsapp group or privately.
🏃 WALKING
Departing from Itacaré, cross the Rio de Contas. On the main edge of the city there are boatmen who provide this service every day, especially in the mornings and afternoons. The boat trip from Itacaré to Pontal beach takes maximum 5 minutes. Afterwards, it is possible to walk to Ecovila Piracanga.
During low tide, follow the sea shore for 6 km. The walk is about two hours. The entrance to the ecovillage is before the Piracanga River meets the sea. There is a path between the beach and the riverbank. It will be necessary to go from one bank to the other. The river depth alternates, usually between your legs and waist. We advise to take this route with minimum two people or more, always during the day. We recommend not to come walking if you have very heavy backpacks and never come alone.
